Mary Douglas, RN
Owner and President
Ms. Douglas is the visionary and founder behind Mobil Dialysis, Inc.
In 1984, she saw an opportunity for an outsourced option for local hospitals when addressing their in-patient
hemodialysis needs. Since the company's inception, it has remained a nurse-owned and operated small business
thriving in greater Central Florida.
Ms. Douglas earned her Nursing degree from Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida and began her career
at The Medical College of Virginia in Richmond as a Pediatric Nurse. After moving to Orlando in 1979, she began
working for Florida Hospital South as a Critical Care Nurse.
She is a member of the American Nephrology Nurses' Association (ANNA) and continues to lead the company through
the ever changing landscape of healthcare in an acute setting.
When she's not at the helm of an MDI project, Ms. Douglas enjoys spending time with her husband, two daughters
and five grandchildren. She can often be found hiking, biking, skiing, watching great movies or doing anything
that involves her grandkids.
Victoria Nelson, BSN, RN
Owner and President
Ms. Nelson attended the University of Florida for one year and moved on to graduate from the University of
Massachusetts-Dartmouth with her Bachelor’s in Science & Nursing. During this time, she lived and worked in
the greater Boston area, strengthening her role in the nursing field. She moved to the Philadelphia area and
had the opportunity to work in a large Level 1 Trauma Hospital where she was a nurse and later a charge nurse
in ICU.
Ms. Nelson joined MDI in 2004 as a staff dialysis nurse. Before long, Ms. Nelson was promoted to Charge
Nurse over one of their highest census in-patient dialysis units. As Charge Nurse, she was on the front line,
developing leadership, conflict resolution and nursing management skills. The aspects of MDI Charge Nurse that
Ms. Nelson found the most interesting were managing the ever-changing environment of healthcare today and
incorporating the needs of the staff to handle these changes and challenges.
In 2012, Mobil Dialysis was poised to experience new growth and as such Ms. Nelson moved into the role of
Chief Nursing Officer. As CNO, Victoria continued to improve and facilitate communication between Mobil Dialysis
and the administrative teams at all customer hospitals. She is also responsible for strategies to improve overall
service, assisting in reaching established goals, maintaining satisfactory outcomes and aiding in overall
profitability. Creating a positive, collaborative work environment is essential to Ms. Nelson and what she strived
to accomplish at all times within the role of CNO.
As of October 2018, Ms. Nelson became Chief Executive Officer with a demonstrated history of working in the
hospital and a great knowledge of the health care industry. Skilled in Nursing Education & Physical Relations,
Victoria was the obvious choice to take MDI to the next level as they continue their plan for growth and expansion.
She is a strong business development professional with a dynamic background and is a leader in serving corporate
operations. Ms. Nelson has a proven track record for effective team management and results driven leadership.
In her down time, Ms. Nelson is the proud mother of three boys who are actively involved in sports. The
flexible schedule provided by MDI enables her to achieve a healthy balance between work and family.
Kerrey Thornton, RN
Chief Nursing Officer
Mrs. Thornton began her nursing career in 1998 as an LPN, serving roles in the Medical Surgical Unit at
Leesburg Regional Hospital and on the staff with a local pediatric physician’s office. In 1999, she found
her way to dialysis.
Earning her RN in 2003, Mrs. Thornton performed several roles for a large corporate dialysis center,
both in an acute and chronic capacity. She parlayed her experience from this role into a management position
with a small independent clinic opening their first unit in 2005. After the corporate purchase of this
clinic, Mrs. Thornton was appointed to the position of Facility Administrator where she managed a 16 chair
unit in Leesburg, Florida.
After 13 years in the industry, Mrs. Thornton found her true calling within the field of dialysis when
she took a position as the Director of Education with Mobil Dialysis. She was quickly promoted taking on
several new and challenging roles within the administrative team at MDI. In 2019, she earned the title of
CNO and she now oversees the nursing staff as well as several quality and education departments.
When not wearing her many hats at work, Mrs. Thornton enjoys time with her husband and children. Most
weekends they can be found cheering on their son who plays travel baseball and their daughter who is a
competitive dancer.
